====Other things Microsoft Sam can make====

Revision as of 20:01, 6 May 2019

There are several glitches with Microsoft Sam, Mike, Mary, Anna, David, Hazel, Zira, Mark and Eva some of which that cause them to pronounce words incorrectly. Following is a list of glitches that have been found.

Note: Many of the mispronunciations are not in the Speakonia (SAPI4) version originally in Windows 2000, although there are some Speakonia – only bugs.

Word Mispronunciations

Most famously, regardless of version, Sam cannot pronounce the word "soy" (also the spelling "soi"), but instead will make a sound "swurghf", resembling a helicopter blade. In Speakonia (SAPI4), one can aid this mispronunciation by typing "soei" or "Swoi" instead, and SAPI5: "soe" or "ssoy". It doesn't happen in Mary and Mike, meaning this issue seems to be specific to the voice itself. However, he can say it correctly if you type a z after the S. He also says it correctly if a word is placed after it that begins with L or W, such as "soy like" or "soy wheat". Sticky Keys XP has also found an accurate way to make him say it correctly in Windows XP (SAPI5). To do this, type "sse loi" (s'e loi in Speakonia). However, he says "soil" correctly.

A

  • Activision: Sam will say "Act-tiv-vis-see-on" in the SAPI5 version, but not in Speakonia. In Anna, a brief "wuh" is heard before Activision.
  • Aeroplane: Sam pronounces it as "air-ah plane" in the SAPI5 version. He says it correctly in the Speakonia version.

  • Andrea: Sam says it "indrea" unless there is a word before it. He says it correctly in SAPI5. In order to fix this, type "Anddrea"

  • Asda: Sam will say "Azz Dah" in both versions.
  • ASMR: Sam will say "as murr" in SAPI4 no matter if it's capital or not. This can be corrected by typing "eh s m r". SAPI5 sam will say as murr if it's in all lowercase letters.
  • Auricom (as in the team of the PS1 game Wipeout): Sam can't pronounce it as one word. He'll say "or-ih-cum" in the SAPI5 version. To fix this problem, seperate both Auri and com so it can be pronounced correctly.
  • Australia: Microsoft Sam will say "Orfstralia" in SAPI5 (and Speakonia?)

B

  • Birdman: Same error as "Hammerman" example. Said as "Birdm'n", and in SAPI5, there is a low heartbeat-like sound at the M.
  • Bling: This only happens in the SAPI5 version, where Sam says it with the first two letters said individually (B L ing) (he pronounces it correctly in the Speakonia version). Typing "blle ing" fixes it.
  • Bluetooth: Sam will say "Blue thooth" unless you type "Blue tooth". He says "Blue-tuth" in SAPI5
  • Boowana (As in Boowana Spirit from the Phanto Comics): SAPI4 Sam says Too-wanna (pronounced in a short A), while SAPI5 Sam says it like BooWowna, Anna says it like Bow na, David, Eva, Mark and Zira say it like Boowowina, Hazel says it like Bow oh inna, Mark, the way to pronounce it correctly is space "boo" and "wana" out

  • Chocobo (From the Final Fantasy games) - Sam will say "Chick-ca-boe" (Sounding similar to Chicago) in Speakonia. Natural Sam (as well as N. Mike and N. Mary) however, says it correctly. However, you can't say the same for Anna, David, Hazel, Zira, Eva, Mark (pretty much any English speaking SAPI5 voice from Windows Vista-10) pronounce it as "Chalk-a-boe".
  • Choy (as in Bok Choy): Sam will say it correctly (in both versions), but if the next word starts with "th", he will say chWAH, like the "Enjoy" and "Joy" examples. This only happens in Speakonia. This can be fixed by typing "choei".
  • Chrome - He calls it "kraw-m"
  • Churros: Microsoft Sam will say it as "chur-iss" in the Speakonia version. To get Speakonia Sam to say it correctly, type chur rows. Speakonia Sam says the non-plural version of this word correctly and SAPI5 Sam will always say this word correctly. Speakonia Sam also seems to say the non-plural version of this word faster, but his SAPI5 counterpart says this word at normal speed.
  • Citrusella Flugpucker: Sam says "sit-roosella flug-poker" in the SAPI5 version.
  • Cocopuffs: Microsoft Sam says "Co-cop-uffs" in the SAPI5 version. In Speakonia, he says it like "cow-co-pefs" instead.

  • Creepypasta: In the SAPI4 version, Microsoft Sam will say "creep ya pasta". Microsoft Mike and Mary will say "creep a pasta". In the SAPI5 version, they will say "creep i pasta". Microsoft Zira and Anna says it correctly. This can be fixed by typing "CreepyPasta" (SAPI4) or " Creepy Pasta" (SAPI4/5).
  • "Crotch" is said as "crow's nest", with the correct pronunciation realized if "krotch" or "crottch" or "crotche" or "ccrotch" or "crotchh" or "crrotch" or "crrottch" or "ccrotchh" or "crottch" or "krottch" or "krotche" or "kkrotch" or "krotchh" or "krrotch" or "krrottch" or "kkrotchh" or "crottche" or "ccrotche" or "crrotche" or "crrottche" or "ccrotchh" or "crottche" or "krottche" or "kkrotche" or "krrotche" or "krrottche" Is typed instead in SAPI5. This is perhaps due to a small referencing error in the pronunciation dictionary, as "crotch" and "crow's nest" are alphabetically very close. The same error is made by natural (SAPI5) Microsoft Mike and Microsoft Mary. Crotches and crotchs is said as "crow's nests", crotchy is "crow's nesty", crotcher is "crow's nester.", crotching is "crow's nesting", and crotched is "crow's nested". In the Speakonia version, this issue doesn't occur.

  • Daphne Toilette: Sam says "Daphne Toilet" To make him say this correctly, type "Daphne Toy Let
  • Davemadson: In the SAPI4 version, Microsoft Sam, Mike and Mary will say "Davamadson". In the SAPI5 version, it is said as "Davmadson". Separating the "dave" and "madson" (SAPI4/5) or typing DaveMadson (SAPI4) can fix this. Microsoft Zira, however, pronounces it correctly (Without separating it).
  • Davetendo: They will say "Dav-uh-tendo". Separate "Dave" and "tendo", they will pronounce it correctly.

  • (Questioned wording stuff by Qwertyxp2000 the second)
  • Dildo: He says "Dial-doh". For the plural, he says "Dilduss". In the XP version, he says "Dill-doo" and "dill-deuce". This mispronunciation is famous for it's use in Barney Bunch videos, but the error is written as "dialdo" and "dildis". To make him say it correctly, type "dildoe".
  • Dimebag: Microsoft Sam will say "Dimma-bag" in Speakonia, but not in XP. Typing "Dime bag" in Speakonia, he says correctly.
  • Dio: Sam will say the correct (correct?) "Dye-oh" in the SAPI5 version, but not in Speakonia. Microsoft David will just say the letters
  • Digimon - Microsoft Sam would just say "Digimin" instead. Trying to separate them at the end of a sentence will result in Sam saying "Digimonday". This can be fixed by typing "Digi-mom". SAPI5 Sam will say this correctly.

  • Ebola: SAPI4 Sam pronounces it as "eh-blah", while his SAPI5 counterpart nearly correctly pronounces it as "eh-bola". To get them to say it correctly, separate the "e" and the "bola".
  • Eboy: Sam will say "eh-boy" in Speakonia.
  • Ecton (As in Ecton Spirit from the Phanto Comics): In SAPI4, Sam Says Ectin (Same goes for Mike, Mary, David, Eva, Mark, and Zira) and in SAPI5, he says Octon. Anna says it like Eck in, and Hazel says it like Egg tin. To make them say it correctly, type in "Eck taun" (Unless your using Hazel, type in Eck taan).
  • Eddsworld: He will say "Eddswirlold" To make him say it correctly, type "Edd'sWorld"
