IVONA Eric's ErrorGang (also known as IVONA Eric Reads Funny Windows Errors) is a comedy TTS error series created by Gemaconda (known as TheVideoKid782 for nearly 80% of the show's existence, and also was the dominant IVONA TTS YouTuber of the 2010s). The series premiered on December 10, 2014 and concluded on August 13, 2022. The series was originally planned to be rebranded as Microsoft Sam Reads Funny Windows Errors before Season 2, however these plans were cancelled as Gemaconda had issues running Linux on his Chromebook.

The series follows Eric, an IVONA TTS character as he reads various Windows errors and gets into various capers with his friends.

Development

Plans for a TTS error series created by Gemaconda (then known as TheVideoKid782) date back to February 2014. A video introduction on his secondary YouTube channel teased a TTS series then known as GoAnimate Windows Errors. However, plans for this series were scrapped soon after. Following this, Gemaconda continued to hint at plans for another TTS series concept.

In November 2014, a second attempt at an error series was made with the sucessful uploading of Windows XP Errors Episode 1. After that, Gemaconda posted on Skype that if he could find a Microsoft Sam online voice on his Chromebook, Windows XP Errors would then be cancelled in favor of the other series. There was no online MS Sam voice at that time. On December 10, 2014, in a skype group, series developer AceOfSpadesProduc100 suggested that Gemaconda could use IVONA voices to create a TTS series. In the next comment in the group, Gemaconda approved the concept, and produced the series premiere. The episode was uploaded a few minutes later.

For over 8 years, IVONA Eric would be the dominant IVONA TTS show, greatly leading the IVONA Eric errors, Chromebook errors, and IVONA errors categories for as long as records have been kept. It's only main rival, Viktor the Kyo Kusanagi Fan's IVONA Eric show, would appear in 2019.

Characters

  • Eric - IVONA Eric is the main character of the show, and the most dominant. He is described as the best of both worlds. He is the heart and soul of the show, and carried it for 4 years. He was the first line of defense against the NSA forces, the Linux Penguin Army, and the commander of the IWAY Cookie hunts. He was hinted to have a crush on Salli in the past, but this plotline was dropped throughout Season 2.
  • Kayla - Kayla was the second character in series history to debut, and the most weirdly changed. When the errors operation began, Kayla was a mere fangirl with a secret crush on Eric. She remained clumsy and weird, but was the commander of Thanksgiving dinner in 2016 and 2017. When ErrorGang began, Kayla's crush on Eric plotline was seemingly dropped, with Kayla simply becoming a supporting character.

- Gemaconda states that Kayla was 14 in Season 1. - Kayla's voice noticably changes - multiple times - in Seson 3.

  • Amethyst Ramirez - Known as Shy Girl until season 3 (named after the voice used for her, a commonplace method of naming all characters prior to 2019), Amethyst lived up to her nickname. Her debut episode almost became her last at the hands of the Angry Blue People. When Windows 10 came out, Amethyst became very protective of her seemingly exclusive upgrades on her PC - getting in a fight with one of the news anchors of their former city over it. Since Season 3 and the move to Jacksonville, she became more outgoing.

- Amethyst's voice changed in Season 3. She also dated Scotty from Episode 1-Episode 10. - She became a radar overseer in Episode 5.

  • Salli - Apparently Eric's crush (until the plotline was axed in late S2) and most popular IVONA voice after Eric, Salli is a chill girl. Salli was also the driving force behind the Windows 7 Computer arc at the end of Season 2 - and is aware of Eric's mistake that got them thrown out and back inside the mansion. In Season 3, she speaks a critically low number of times - 25 - the lowest out of the entire main cast. Overall, she speaks a mere 41 times in the entire franchise, also the lowest of the entire main cast.
  • Akeira Katelyn Shevlin - Akeira was a one off character in Season 2 that assisted Eric in the first IWAY Cookie hunt, and was invited to Thanksgiving during the Jacksonville debut. She was largely unknown until the falling out in Radar Overseer Amethyst, in which she became one of the most action oriented characters in series history.

- Akeira is the only non mainstream character to get her own episode ("WindowsNight").

  • Microsoft Sam - Microsoft Sam was initially the commander of an evacuation between the IVONA and Speakonia voices in 2015. He was not seen again until 2018. Sam is the second most popular member of the ErrorGang, and a major source. His depiction in this series is signifigantly different from how he is shown in other TTS shows on this wiki, usually shown as stern and not a friend of the Gang's antics. He also brings a sense of common sense to the family. Sam also holds the distinction as being the only depiction of Microsoft Sam as an African-American male in the entire TTS universe.
  • Microsoft Mike - As part of ErrorGang's wild diversity not seen in any other TTS series, Microsoft Mike's talking like a lady is taken to new levels as in this series, he is gay. This is the only depiction of Mike as gay in the entire depictions of him in TTS series'. His sexuality is almost never addressed, as in the show his various roles include wannabe rapper and Angry Blue People member. Producer BatteryMill also states that he is "the complete opposite of Scotty".
  • Microsoft Mary - Microsoft Mary was the final OG voice to be introduced in the show. In Beverly Hills, California, she was a rich girl who lived the life, until she was intrigued by the ErrorGang's fame and fortune recieved after the concert they held in Southern California. From there, she formed a friendship with Brooke and Amethyst and went on a cross coutry journey. She would go on to be busy and reserved to the ErrorGang.
  • Radar Overseer Scotty - The cynical one of the bunch. He, however really loves watching the Thomas & Friends episode, "The Thomas Way", on repeat.
  • Brooke - Brooke was teased throughout the roleplay series' episodes, and finally debuted in 2019 when Microsoft Mary saw her as one of the coordinators for the concert. When brought into the Speakonia Mansion, she became one of the most resourceful members. Her voice is Emma from ttsmp3.com.
  • RoboSoft - The ErrorGang's virtual assistant.

Season 1 (2014-2015)

Plot

At the start of the season, the plot consisted simply of Eric reading random Windows errors. Then, Eric was forced to go fix a bridge or else danger of the NSA. In episode 3, it was revealed that Kayla from the series had a secret [it was hinted, but never confirmed, that VoiceForge Kayla has a secret crush on Eric]. In episode 4, Eric was thrown to the NSA jail by the Linux Penguin Army but was escaped out. It then came to Episode 5, when the series grew the plot out, only to have Eric interrupted by a breaking news announcement by the VideoKid24 news team that Eric exposed to be old news.

Rebrand to Microsoft Sam Reads Funny Windows Errors

On March 19, 2015, after recieving more likes or dislikes on a YouTube video on whether to rebrand the series for better quality. The series was planned to be known as Microsoft Sam Reads Funny Windows Errors starting with episode 6. Eric and Kayla would continue to star in the series; however, they were to become supporting characters.

On March 24, 2016, Gemaconda announced on Skype that after experiencing issues with his Linux dual boot, S1EP6 would be the sole Microsoft Sam episode. Eric could return to make error episodes later in 2016. He additionally commented on the series' use of GoAnimate, stating "If IVONA itself is possible, the hell with GoAnimate. If it doesn't work, we may have to work backwards."

Season 2 (2016-2017)

Production

On January 3, 2015, Gemaconda announced on Skype that the series had been renewed for a second season starting at episode 14. On March 24, 2016, Season 1 was truncated to a 6-episode length with Season 2 poised to complete the remainder of said order. Season 3 later assumed the original Season 2 order after episode 14.

Production on the first episode began on June 6, 2016 and was finished the next day. Changes made in season 2 are the animation program, the background noise, and more. Season 2 continues the plot of Season 1 with some more Angry Blue People encounters.

Until S2EP5, Season 2 was the first season to be made without AceOfSpadesProduc100's involvement. His unexpected return in 2017 led to S2EP5 becoming the first episode since 2014 that AceOfSpadesProduc100 was involved with in production. However, this would be the sole episode Ace would produce within this season. The creator of the series, Gemaconda, is part of a community where social and political issues matter. AceOfSpadesProduc100 was fired from the show in September 2017 due to his views against social justice issues important to this community.

On July 18, 2017, Gemaconda announced S2EP6 was delayed for multiple months due to several changes in his personal life. As groundings and time constraints at Gemaconda, as well as a content shift (only for said content shift to die in January 2018), there was still a major chunk of time between episodes. S2EP6 was uploaded November 22, 2017, the day before Thanksgiving.

Plot

In episode 1, Eric is informed about an order for him to come back to read errors. The NSA then finds out Kayla is in Eric's house at night.

In Episode 2, Wi-Fi returns to the NSA Jail and when asked about Speakonian Ham, Shy Girl whispers that Microsoft Sam told her there are also free IWAY Cookies. In addition, Kayla shows Eric a Hunter Kimbril comment.

A bandwagon sports fans error appeared this season at the suggestion of BatteryMill, who replaced AceOfSpadesProduc100 as co-executive producer for the second season. It was featured in S2EP3.

Season 3 (IVONA Eric's ErrorGang) (2018-2022)

Production

On November 1, 2017, series creator Gemaconda announced on Discord that the series was renewed for a third season, but then stated that it would be the last season of the series. He also announced that character known as "Brooke" from the Skype RP series was also scheduled to appear. There had already been speculation of the show ending through Lucas Gloss incidents, several run-ins with AceOfSpadesProduc100, and pressure from musician Sonohara to cancel the series.

Season 3, alongside a tie-in special titled IVONA Eric Fails at Tech Support Again began production in early 2018. However, on February 12, 2018, production of the series on Gemaconda's Chromebook was suspended. Production files were lost shortly thereafter, though both productions were later restarted and completed. If going by the original proposed upload dates, Season 3 would likely have ran from February 17, 2018-November 2020 or 2021. By a year to year format, the show would have ended in 2019.

On December 1, 2018, Gemaconda and BatteryMill announced a rebrand for the series. Initially announced as, IVONA Eric: Errors+, the title would be revised as IVONA Eric: ErrorGang prior to the season premiere.

The third season, under the new ErrorGang format, premiered on December 12, 2018. The season premiere episode utilized Videoshop, despite later episodes utilizing KineMaster.

The season consists of 12 episodes. This was the first and only season where series developer AceOfSpadesProduc100 did not have a role.

Return to a laptop, averted move to Windows

At the end of the 2010s decade, there were talks of the show finally moving to a Windows laptop. Nearly all of them fell through - until 2021. However, the computer sucked. It did enough, though, to get the IVONA Eric Reads Funny Signs finale produced in a Windows application in March 2021. It would go on to be the only Windows production in show history.

On May 4, 2020, a Chromebook, originally shared, was brought to the house. However, production has functioned differently from how it did in 2016-17, namely with editing moving from Powtoon to Kinemaster (itself shifting to Cyberlink PowerDirector in 2022).

S2EP8 was the last IVONA Eric episode to be uploaded on a computer until "Death's Blue Screen" in 2020.

Gemaconda plans to get a permanent Windows laptop as the years go on.

Criticism and controversy

During the first season, the series received criticism for the clarity of errors and background noise. Certain critics were opposed to the series and thus called for the removal of the series from YouTube. During this period, Gemaconda used a microphone to record voices rather than his Chromebook's speakers. Criticism of the series also came from the use of GoAnimate to produce the series, its use of which was discontinued late in the first season.

From S2EP5 onwards, a voice downloading service was used for Eric's voice instead of it being recorded using a voice recorder.

S2EP7 and S2EP8 were produced in PowToon's HTML5 interface, instead of the Flash suite that was used for the first six episodes of Season 2.

From S3EP1/Episode 1 of ErrorGang, the series was made in Videoshop. The special of ivonaeric Fails at Tech Support again was produced in Kinemaster.

December 2017 Lucas Gloss incident

On December 24, 2017, Lucas Gloss, a regular error requester for the series, was exposed for several community violations. His presence on the show was thus terminated.

November 20, 2019 incident

On November 20, 2019, after another sexual harassment incident, this time in real life, there were rumors of an investigation into eveyone involved's social media accounts, including Gemaconda's YouTube, where ErrorGang episodes are hosted. As of November 24, 2019, nothing has came up. in addition, there was major controversy far outside of TVK782 about the main victims not being helped.

The incident did not affect Sapphire Entertainment's production schedule or the Gemaconda YouTube channel, but in his IRL circles, it was consistently referenced throughout late 2019 and early 2020. He was praised for his actions at the time of the controversy.

Specials

The series has spawned several spin-off specials, which feature the main characters in non-canonical adventures or quick shorts, of which do not involve reading errors. The first such special, "IVONA Eric Fails at Tech Support" premiered on December 16, 2014, shortly after the series premiere, and the final special, "WindowsCourt: Battle for the Wand", was uploaded as the final piece of IVONA Eric media on May 31, 2023.

IVONA Eric: The Skype roleplay series

On October 8, 2016, during a conversation in The Vidkid782 Field, a now-defunct Skype group owned by Gemaconda, BatteryMill brought up roleplays. Gemaconda then came up with roleplay clues, one of them involved a possible IVONA Eric roleplay. BatteryMill liked the idea and considered with Brandon Figuracions's roleplays. However, Gemaconda is using a saperate IVONA Eric roleplay group as an example and these are his reasons:

Live Benamore and Guyisbackable also have had roleplays that are very successful. IVONA Eric reads Funny Windows Errors has grown into a plot suitable for roleplaying.

Gemaconda and BatteryMill went going through possibilities with it, as well as other RP suggestions greater than it.

The discussion went all the way into Sunday, making it one of the longest discussions in TTS history. On October 9, 2016, it was confirmed that the roleplay would contain the Skype community, the people of fellow YouTuber Brandon Figuracion, as well as characters of IVONA Eric and the cancelled Sapphire Entertainment film Bitstrips: The 2nd Dimension, making a revival of retail roleplays that were popular in 2014 and 2015. The roleplay opened on October 10, 2016.

In the first episode, BatteryMill and Gemaconda went to Lowe's to work on the penthouse. When the bill for electronics came over $7,000, they called Eric and Shy Girl from Funny Windows Errors to help. Radar Overseer Warren paid the bill, and there were puns made. Episode 2 was originially scheduled to come October 11, but due to groundings, a new thing that emerged in 2015 at Gemaconda, the episode will come in November.

During the prologue, a mysterious character known as "Brooke" was secretly mentioned. The mysterious girl was passed on for Season 2 reveals (including any orginal S2EP6/7 workings) and was revealed in the Season 3 episode, "Battle of the Band".

It is believed that the aforementioned RP chat disappeared from chat histories due to groundings and loss of interest. Additionally in July 2017, Gemaconda made a permanent switch from Skype to Discord. While there is a #roleplay channel on his server without a storyline and IVONA Eric character emojis exist, it is unknown where the future of the roleplay remains. As of December 2018, there are no plans to continue this roleplay series.

On August 1, 2019, a new TheVideoKid782 Field opened, a joint effort with designer EarthSam, launched after the previous server was disabled by Discord moderators. IVONA Eric character emojis are in the process of returning.

In June 2022, errors taken from IVONA Eric episodes were used for an RP series created by youtuber louis wolf in a (since-closed) Discord server. This was the first time in six years that IVONA Eric content was used in a roleplay.
